Research Project Topic: Hypothesis
If-then hypotheses: seek to determine a relationship between a IV and a DV.
For experimental: You need to write an if-than hypothesis with 2 supporting sentences sharing which groups you predict to perform the best and worst.
For exploratory: You will write a hypothesis in the form of a question, but still seeking a correlation between IV and DV.
Class time to work on writing hypotheses.

What goes into it?
Possible titles, introduction (MLA), experimental design table, hypothesis (+2 sentences if experimental, and if exploratory a paragraph describing what other variables you plan to be looking for.) & list of materials.
Methods:
NARRATIVE (not procedure)
Do NOT use phrases like, "This experiment will be set up in my living room." Instead, try, "The experiment will be set up in front of a north facing window in the home of (one of) the researcher(s).
You must address how you plan on addressing all the constants you listed in your research design table. You may do this however it makes sense to you. Some students prefer to spend a whole paragraph addressing this, while other just mention each as they describe the experimental set up. For example, "This method was chosen because it would help address the extraneous variable...."

SH #5 won't be collected for a grade, but complete it if you think it will help.
Using Google docs for your proposal...a requirement. I don't want proposals typed within the wiki. Instead, start the proposal in a word doc, then upload it to Google Docs. Make sure you give editing privelages to your lab partner and to ME! My gmail account is: drDjHarland@gmail.com.

Work on the document in Google docs. Don't complete it first and then post it. We are working on Transparency: peek at other proposals to see others are doing!
(Note: Feel free to ask me via email to "grade" your proposal before Thursday. I will be out of town Sept 24-26, so the first chance I would have would be on Monday the 27th. The faster you get the proposal approved, the easier things will be on you in the long run.
